A vegan guide to buy boots

Vegan Boots: A Boot Whose Time Has Come

I got a pair of vegan boots a Target about four years ago for $30. They are adorable, durable, and still get plenty of compliments. If you’re looking for hiking boots or for fashion boots to wear downtown, it may appear challenging to find leather-free options. Yet, with a few tips, finding cruelty-free boots becomes a piece of cake.

When you begin your search for the perfect pair of boots, you’ll want to consider two things:

  1. Material is the most significant. Luckily shoe labels make it easy to distinguish between animal materials and vegan materials. You can expect boots are made from leather or other animal fabrics unless the label says, “All Man-Made Materials” or “100% Synthetic.” Then you’re in the clear! Just be careful, some shoes have a synthetic outer but a leather sole or a wooly interior.
  2. Glue is one of those “how vegan are you?” questions. It can be difficult to determine whether the glue that binds the boot together is vegan or made using trace animal ingredients. Many vegans decide not to worry about such details. Others commit to buying only vegan-certified footwear.

Vegan Boots List For Mindful Shopping

We are including two lists, the first with 100% vegan shoes and boots. The second with retailers that carry footwear made without leather or wool, yet, could contain trace animal ingredients in the glue.

Healing White Vegan Gazpacho

Healing White Vegan Gazpacho

Healing vegan white gazpachoThis healing white vegan gazpacho soup has many vitamins and minerals. It contains highly anti-inflammatory vitamin E and B and riboflavin in the almonds. The olive oil, cauliflower are also highly anti-inflammatory. The apple is rich in histamine, which lowers quercetin.

Apple cider vinegar is the lowest histamine of all vinegar. It is made from apples which have significant antihistamine and mast cell stabilising activity. Garlic is not only anti-inflammatory but also anti-bacterial. Cucumber is antioxidant which is good for your skin as well as an analgesic, which might decrease pain.

A healthy and cooling soup excellent to beat the summer heat.

7 Vegan & Creamy Soups for the Winter

7 Vegan & Creamy Soups for the Winter

7 creamy vegan soupsWinter is on the way! It’s time to prep for heartwarming meals, and vegan creamy soups are on my menu. Enjoy these 7 most scrumptious, nutritious and creamy soups that the vegan diet has to offer. Soup is the ultimate comfort food. It’s easy to make, filling and full of nutrition. Vegan soups are made with nutrient-rich vegetables, legumes, and other ingredients that have delicious textures and great flavours. Also, when you eat vegan soup, you may have a lower obesity risk. So, eating soups, even these luscious creamy soups, before a meal may help control your weight.

Soup makes you feel full because of its high water content. Studies show that eating soup as an appetizer can decrease calorie intake at a meal by about 20%.  So, starting with soup means you’ll feel fuller faster, and be less prone to pick at the bread basket.

Vegan soups contain little of saturated fats but are high in proteins, fibre, micronutrients and vitamins. To add even more nutritious to your bowl try the following:

  • Herbs for detoxing
  • Roasted pumpkin seeds and nuts to add omega acid-fats
  • Seaweed sprinkles or sea salt for the iodine
  • Sesame seeds  for the calcium
  • Hot sauce to kick your metabolism

Vegan Asian Noodle Soup

A summer cold is some of the worst thing I have ever endured. (Well! child birth might be a bit worse)

But it is really not fun at all, I think it is the heat that makes it worse.

So when my son started sniffing and being a big baby, I felt for him. Not that I wouldn’t normally of course, but we know the saying about men and being sick, right?

But in this case I wanted to make him a treat to make him better fast. This is a bit spicy, to get your body working, but you as always you can adjust the heat as wished.

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 heaping Tbsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1/2 a jalapeno, seeds removed and thinly sliced
  • 6 cups low-sodium vegetable broth (preferably one without tomatoes, such as Whole Foods 365 Organic)
  • 3 green onions plus extra for serving, sliced
  • 3 Tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 3 baby bok choy, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, peeled and sliced into very thin coins
  • 7 oz extra-firm tofu, cubed
  • 5 oz noodles
  • chopped cilantro, for serving
  • sriracha sauce, for serving

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large pot over medium high heat.
  2. Then add ginger and garlic and saute 2-3 minutes.
  3. Then add jalapeno, vegetable broth, and green onions.
  4. Let it simmer 10-15 minutes under a lid.
  5. While waiting for the soup cook noodles according to package directions.
  6. Then drain and set aside. The soup will go murky if the noodles are cooked in the broth.
  7. Back to the soup: Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, vegetables, and tofu, and cook on low heat until veggies are heated through, 1-2 minutes. Add the noodles and heat for 1 more minute, until both noodles and broth are hot.
  8. Now Serve alongside sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, and sriracha.
  9. Note: This soup is best eaten immediately, as it won't reheat well when vegetables and noodles have been mixed.
